How do I safely taper off of an anti-psychotic? I've been told it needs professional supervision. Yet most professionals do not do this. Do you have a list of those that can help me taper?

Thanks for posting. Would you like to share your location so we can look for professionals who can help you taper? Are you looking for medical professionals only?

I need an international list, if one is available, for several different people in different locations. What's the difference between medical professionals only and others? My understanding is that this needs to be a medical professional for prescribing tapered doses and help. Are there others who can help with this as well? Thanks!

Have you checked the list on the Mindfreedom international website? That’s the only one I can think of, though Mad in America website has a list too but I’m guessing you’ve explored it. If you give us an idea of some of the locations, maybe we can find practitioners in those places.

I’ve noticed a lot of them are somewhat under the radar and not even in the “scene” or the online world so much, but sometimes I learn of them through clients, colleagues and friends.

I’d like to compile a list and have started to. Maybe in fact I will create one on this site where practitioners can post their info.

There are practitioners who are non-medical non-prescribers who might be able to help, such as herbalists and natural health experts but they wouldn’t take insurance or be able to help with prescribing tapered doses.

But any regular doctor could help as well. Sometimes mds or nds are more helpful for withdrawal than psychiatrists. Again, knowing the locations might be useful.

Thanks, Chaya--

Very few medical professionals will help with tapering prescriptions. That's why I asked. From my understanding, tapering is the safest way, with the non-medical as complimentary.

Yes, thanks. If you can't send me a list of professionals by location, I'll have to ask you again when this comes up.

Thanks, Chaya!

This isn't an international list, and I'm not sure how many of these folks taper people, but someone just sent me this list of medical professionals who work alternatively:
